The holiday season is upon us again and if you haven’t started already, it’s time to prepare your shopping list.  To help out this year, below are some creative and practical gift ideas I thought I’d share with you:

  • Read All About It:  A subscription to their favorite magazine or newspaper is a gift that keeps on giving.  Or stop by the used bookstore and pick up some classic books from their favorite genre.
  • Excursions Galore:  Indulge them with luxuries like pre-paid haircuts, manicures, pedicures or massages.  Gift certificates to local department stores are very useful.  Other fun ideas include tickets to the movie theater, sporting events, concerts, the opera, or even local community plays.
  • Homemade Delights:  Create some coupons redeemable for painting, gardening, home repairs, moving heavy furniture, or transportation for shopping, trips to the library, etc.  Large-print calendars with family photographs marking anniversaries and birthdays also make a unique present.
  • Food For Thought:  Pack a basket with goodies such as assorted flavored instant coffee or tea, mixed nuts or dried fruit.  Or fill their freezer with frozen home-cooked meals that microwave in minutes. 
  • Time:  Just visiting them is a wonderful present.  One of the best gifts to give someone is the gift of time.  Choose one day this month and commit to spending it together.
